But high-profile cases such as those of Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba, Ashya King and Baby P demonstrate the different kinds of challenges faced by child Healthcare professionals today, who must deal with uncertainty and complexity in the face of fragmented and under-resourced health systems, with ever-increasing but mismatched public expectations.
These growing pressures are having a corrosive impact on the wellbeing of clinicians working in the specialty… So what can be done?
This event will explore the factors at individual, team and system level, that can both exacerbate and alleviate the stresses and strains of working under these conditions.
By reflecting on high-profile cases, learning from leaders in the fields of patient safety and health ergonomics, and acquiring skills to improve our practice, this is a day to galvanize the child health world by thinking about human solutions for a system under stress.
