Description
This 1-day conference will showcase up-to-date evidence and research findings in palliative medicine for harder to reach population groups with a unique and dynamic programme presented by clinical experts.
The programme covers the key practical and ethical issues needed to assist clinicians with decision making and good symptom control. There will also be discussion about recent guidelines and the impact of changing patient demographics on service provision and medical training.
Programme highlights will include:
knowledge of changing demographics of palliative care patients
understanding of recent guidelines/legislation
evidence-based practice for management of harder to reach groups
ethical dilemmas in palliative medicine with a specific focus on these population groups
impact of guidelines/evidence on clinical practice.
The Specific groups identified are black and ethnic minority patients/carers (BAME), LGBT groups, Teenage young adult and their transition through healthcare, patients/carers with specialist learning needs, those with pre-exisiting psychiatric and psychological problems, the homeless.
