COURSE DESCRIPTION
This three-day course is designed particularly for dermatologists and pathologists in training who wish to
enhance their basic knowledge of skin pathology in a structured format.
Participants will receive a stepwise comprehensive exposure to the basic principles of dermatopathology.
Special emphasis will be given to clinical-pathological correlation and to understanding the value of integrating
dermatopathology in clinical practice.
COURSE AIMS
The participants will:
1. Increase their knowledge of basic dermatopathology
2. Enhance their overall diagnostic skills
3. Understand the value of clinical-pathological correlation
4. Improve their interpretation of a dermatopathology report and communication with the dermatopathologist.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The course includes:
1. Lectures on the following topics:
DAY 1: Principles of basic dermatopathology & ‘Top to bottom’: Epidermis
DAY 2: ‘Top to bottom’: Dermis and subcutaneous tissue
DAY 3: Benign and malignant skin tumours
2. Interactive vignettes, in a quiz format, with emphasis on clinical-pathological correlation
The participation fee includes:
1. Lectures reading material
2. Three days buffet breakfasts, working lunches, morning and afternoon coffee and tea refreshments
