This meeting will update all consultants, trainees, nurses and others involved in the emergency and traumatic surgery, management and best practice.
The President’s poster prize will be awarded to the best poster submitted by a trainee or student on the topics of trauma and/or emergency surgery.

Professor Ameet Patel, Consultant Surgeon at the London Digestive Centre, and President Elect for the Surgery Section at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Professor Patel was appointed Consultant Surgeon, Kings College Hospital in 1999. Within the last 10 years, he has developed one of London’s leading Bariatric Centres, and also developed minimal access HPB surgery, including laparoscopic liver and laparoscopic pancreatic resections.
Professor Patel is continuing to push the boundaries of day case surgery, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic fundoplication and laparoscopic gastric band insertions. He is also developing Single Incisional Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) as a new technique of minimal access surgery.
