Aims:
The course aims to enhance the skills required by a psychiatrist for public engagement. These include writing for a lay readership and working with the media to develop the public’s understanding of mental illnesses and their treatment.
Learning objectives:
To understand key factors to consider when preparing for either written or verbal public engagement work.
To practice writing for a lay readership.
To practice interview skills for a broadcast media interview.
